All natural, homemade body wash

I’ve been getting really excited by the idea of making my own bathroom products and cosmetics recently, so I’ve been on a bit of a mission: researching recipes, excursions to health stores and organic supermarkets, online shopping for raw ingredients.

After quite a few more or less successful trials in my home laboratory (the kitchen table), I’m finally ready to share a recipe for a wonderful all natural body wash with you!
The recipe below is inspired by a recipe I found on this blog, but I’ve tweaked it a little bit to fit my own tastes, and to be able to use up the ingredients I had in my cupboard.

For this body wash, you will need:

  • 160 ml unscented liquid castile soap
  • 2 tbsp raw honey
  • 1 tsp vitamin E oil
  • 2 tsp vegetable glycerin
  • 10 drops geranium essential oil

Mix until the honey is well-mixed in with the other ingredients and it starts foaming.
Here is the final product on my tub:

By the way: the ingredients may sound very “out there” to the novice cosmetics maker, but they are easily available at good online shops for ingredients (e.g., where I got the essential oils, glycerin and vitamin E oil from), at health stores like Holland & Barrett or organic shops (my castile soap is from Planet Organic).

Has anyone else tried to make their own body wash before? Any tips on what works and doesn’t work?
Or has anyone maybe come up with a particularly great recipe that I may want to try?  Always grateful for advice!
