Coffee-cinnamon body scrub

I originally found a recipe for a coffee body scrub here. I first tried it out with 1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon but liked the mix of coffee and cinnamon smells so much, I’d now add a bit more cinnamon!

1. Melt 1/2 cup of coconut oil and let it cool down – just enough, don’t let it get solid again.

2. Mix the oil together with 1 cup ground coffee, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 tablespoon of vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Store in an airtight container.

Homemade wedding: Vinyl record bowls

One of the many things we made ourselves for our wedding were the bowls we put one each on each table filled with popcorn as a pre-dinner snack. The hipster edge? They were made from vinyl records.

As my lovely husband understandably did not want to sacrifice any of his record collection for this, we went around charity shops snatching up the cheapest pieces of music we could find. This included a Sound of Music soundtrack, and some fairly hilarious drum’n’bass titles.

J. was the mastermind behind this:

1. Set the oven temperature to about 100°C.

2. Record goes on top of a (non-flammable) bowl, and straight into the oven:

3. Leave it in there with the door open for a minute or so until it starts becoming malleable.

4. Take the record out of the oven and place inside another bowl:

Use your hands to form the record into something resembling a bowl.

Ta da!

And here it is filled with loveliness:
